Roger Legg
Co-founder and Senior Nutrition Chemist

Roger is the senior chemist at RL Food Testing Laboratory, one of the premiere food testing lab resources in the US. He graduated from UCLA with background in Biochemistry and Organic Chemistry and spent his entire career working in the pharmaceutical and food industry.

With over 25 years of experience as a chemist, he is well suited to assist clients with food testing and analysis, nutrition fact panel development, advice and service on USDA applications and UPC bar code development on food products suitable for pet and human consumption.

Prior to founding RL Food Testing Laboratory, Mr. Legg was a chemist for well-known biomedical and pharmaceutical companies such as MP Biomedicals, ICN Pharmaceuticals and Pantex. Roger has a degree in Psychobiology, with a strong emphasis in Biochemistry and Organic Chemistry from the University of California, Los Angeles.

Mia Wasilevich
Director of Marketing
A graduate of the University of San Diego, Mia has more than 12 years experience as a marketing, public relations and project management professional. Her areas of expertise include media  relations, web and print content development, strategic brand messaging and market strategy.

Sharon Vessels

Co-founder and Director of Sales and Regulatory Issues

Sharon manages all aspects of the RL Food Testing Laboratory website and sales activity, as well as ensuring RLFT is up to date on the various USDA and FDA regulations surrounding food labeling across the country. Sharon has an extensive background in consumer marketing, having worked in senior marketing roles at various Fortune 500 firms. She graduated with a BA in Economics from the University of Michigan and MBA from Pepperdine University.

Christopher Micallef
Director of HACCP and Food Safety Consulting

Christopher manages the HACCP audit preparation for our food manufacturers. He has spent the past 20 years owning or managing food manufacturing and distributing companies across the US. He is an accomplished operations executive and has coached several small businesses on ways to improve their operational efficiencies as it relates to food safety, optimizing manufacturing output and reducing costs. He has an impressive track record related to the successful completion of HACCP Audits for our clients at a fraction of the cost and time it would take a larger firm; in fact, Chris has prepared several factories for their HACCP Audit and they passed their audits on the first try – most factories go through at least 3 rounds before passing a HACCP Audit.

Stephen Farabaugh
Staff Microbiologist

Stephen, a graduate from the University of Arizona with a Bachelor of Science in Microbiology and minor in Chemistry, is currently working on his Master of Science in Microbiology and Pathobiology. He has been employed by the Veterinary Science and Microbiology department at the U of A since October 2010. In addition, he is a certified pharmacy technician (CPhT).

Rusty Robison
Art Director

Rusty Robison is an MFA graduate of Parsons School of Design, and an Addy Award winning graphic designer. With a background in print, web and package design, as well as journalistic layout, her love and knowledge of typography comes through in the technical quality of her work, as well as the visual impact.

Beth Vessels
Director of Web Content

Beth manages our educational content for the RL Food website, including: blogs, eBooks, and social media. She searches for the most current, relevant news to help our customers be prepared for anything from FDA updates, food and health trends, or food retailer trends. When it comes to retail, Beth knows the business. She has over 12 years of National Account Management and Retail Channel Marketing experience working for several Fortune 500 companies where she successfully sold and marketed new products and line extensions at major retailers. She has managed all aspects of sales and marketing, commercialization of new products from conception to retail launch, pricing strategy development and promotional planning.
